Well, after three flights, a near airline strike, and 15.5 hrs of travel, I arrived in Cluj today at around 1:20 local time.  All of my travel went really smoothly–my luggage made it with me, etc.  I wish I had taken a picture of the plane I rode in for the last leg of the flight–it was a turboprop.

A very nice guy named Alex met me at the airport and took me to where I am staying and made sure I was settled in.  I have two meetings in the morning, and he will pick me up for my first one to show me the route, and then I’ll have to take a cab by myself to the second.  So, I guess this is about to get real…can I survive getting around my first day…I’m sure it will be fine.  Ask me again a week from now, and I’m sure I’ll have gotten my feet under me with an alternate route or two.  Depending on how I’m feeling, I’ll either find the grocery store tomorrow or Saturday (I brought a few snacks with me to get me through the first day or so, not knowing what my schedule would be like).  I also want to go exploring a little bit this weekend so I can get a feel for my neighborhood.

At this point, I’m feeling a little travel weary, but I will feel more human once I have a full night or two of sleep, which I haven’t had in several days.

Glad you are there safely and happily (if sleepily) ensconced in your new home for the next couple of months. Miss your face already! 🙂
